Organising your flights well not only makes tracking them easier but also leads to cleaner data and better reporting.
In Air Maestro, there are two primary ways to track multiple flight activities in a day:
- Creating multiple Flight Records
- Using Legs within a single Flight Record
Which option you choose depends on your operations and how your flights are structured.
Flight Records vs. Flight Legs
Flight Records
Use multiple separate Flight Records when the flights you perform throughout the day are distinct, unrelated activities.
For example, if you perform a training flight in the morning and a rescue task in the afternoon, each should be recorded as a separate Flight Record.
Adding Multiple Flights in a Day can be done through:
- Flight Records module: Create a new Flight Record for each separate flight.
- Timesheet entries: Pilots can also add multiple flights when submitting timesheets.
Flight Legs
Use Legs when your day consists of a single continuous flight broken into multiple segments or tasks.
If you currently don't see the Leg Details area in your Flight Records, Leg Tracking may be disabled.
To enable Leg Tracking:
- Go to Site Setup > Operations > Flight Record Setup.
- Click the Edit button underneath the Options section.
- Tick Track Flight Leg Data.
- Press OK.
Legs can have their own set of custom fields that pilots fill out. These leg-specific fields should capture information unique to each leg, while any data consistent across the entire flight should remain in the Flight Fields.
Flight Leg Fields
Flight Leg Fields are created and organised on the same page as Flight Fields in the Flight Record Setup.
The setup consists of:
- Fields table: This is where fields are created, listed, edited and re-ordered.
- Preview: This is where you can see the preview of the existing fields.
